As a Canadian employer

Labour Market Impact Assessment
When Canadian companies want to hire a temporary foreign worker, in most cases they must provide evidence that they have sought a local candidate. This, along with other factors, takes the form of a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), issued by the federal government.

Work permit
If a positive LMIA is granted, indicating that the need exists and there are no Canadians interested in the job, the next step is to apply for a work permit.
Intra-company transfers
Individuals who work for a company in their home country and who seek to work for a parent, branch, subsidiary or affiliate of that company in Canada can apply for entry under this category.
