As student

Study permit
Due to the recognized high quality of its academic institutions, Canada attracts thousands of students from around the world each year. Also, in most cases international students in Canada are allowed to work part-time (and even full-time during the holidays!). That work and study experience can be invaluable when seeking permanent residency.

Work permit for spouse
Another very advantageous feature for full-time international students in Canada is that an accompanying spouse generally receives an open work permit, that is, it allows them to be employed in any type of activity.
Professional internship programs
(co-op)
This type of study program includes a mandatory component of work experience with a Canadian company, as an essential and integral part of its curriculum. In such cases, both a study permit and a work permit must be obtained.

Post Graduation Work Permit
Many full-time higher education programs of at least eight months in length allow foreign students to apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), the duration of which varies from the length of the study program to three years.
